Does Infrared Sauna Have Any Health Benefits?
An infrared sauna is different from a typical sauna that uses steam and heat. The infrared sauna uses infrared light to directly heat your body as opposed to heating the room which then heats your body. Sometimes, infrared saunas are referred to as “far-infrared” saunas and infrared refers to the part of the light spectrum which falls below the lowest visible wavelength of light. This wavelength of light is the same as the light that radiates off the sun and gives heat. As an infrared sauna uses this special wavelength of light, it can produce the same results a regular sauna would but at much lower and more bearable temperatures. This aspect of infrared saunas makes them a great alternative for anyone who cannot take the heat.
Infrared Sauna Health Benefits
Even though an infrared sauna differs a bit from its traditional sauna counterpart, it provides similar health benefits. The infrared light that our sauna uses reaches the cellular level, elevating the health of the whole body from its smallest building block. Infrared saunas’ health benefits include boons such as improved weight loss, muscle pain relief, improper sleep improvement, and a boost in skin elasticity. Since infrared saunas raise one’s core body temperature quickly, we believe that it has similar benefits as moderate exercise.
Infrared saunas provide additional health benefits, too. One great health benefit is that infrared saunas stimulate sweating and increase blood circulation with the rise in the body’s temperature. This is where it acts somewhat similar to moderate exercise. As it is non-invasive, going into the infrared sauna also works for daily use. It is great that it can be used daily because saunas provide an exceptional health benefit of a full-body detox from the sweating and exercise-like response.
There is also evidence from some studies mounting that infrared saunas can provide other long-term health benefits. You should know that these studies are not one hundred percent conclusive, but the potential for alleviating the symptoms of conditions that do not otherwise go away is promising. Diseases where evidence has surfaced for health benefits of using an infrared sauna include Alzheimer’s, headaches, arthritis, heart failure, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, and even dementia.
